Jack Cimo plays Rodrigo

AV Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale with picture of symphony and chorale.

American classical guitarist Jack Cimo joins the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra to perform Joaquin Rodrigo’s Fantasia para un gentilhombre. Commissioned by legendary guitarist Andres Segovia, this Spanish guitar showcase adapts dances of 17th century composer Gaspar Sanz. Also on the program are two monuments of Viennese classicism: Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fidelio overture—the fourth and final overture to his only opera—and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s stirring Symphony No. 35 in D Major (Haffner)"

John F. Kennedy Memorial

AV Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale with picture of symphony and chorale.

This program presents two compositions that commemorate the 60th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s November 22, 1963 assassination. David Newby’s Dealey Plaza is both a tribute to the President and an examination of still-unresolved questions about his death. Mozart’s monumental Requiem is a fitting memorial for our nation’s first Catholic president
